System Default vs Custom API Keys

SpotMetal provides flexible rate feed ingestion, supporting both turnkey out-of-the-box feeds and enterprise private API keys.
Rate Feed Architecture
SpotMetal queries live spot pricing for Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium every 60 seconds. You can choose between two feed ingestion models in Settings > Rate Feeds:
Option A: System Default Feed (Edelmetalle.de)
Pre-configured with zero setup required. Provides high-accuracy European Central Bank and London Bullion spot rates. Recommended for 90% of stores.
Option B: Custom Market Data Provider Keys
Connect your own API key for dedicated quota and private endpoints. Ideal for high-frequency trading and refinery operations.
Supported Market Data Providers
- GoldAPI.io: LBMA spot rates with millisecond latency.
- Metals-API: Global spot data across 170+ currency pairs.
- MetalPriceAPI: Real-time and historical bullion benchmarks.
- Custom Private Refinery JSON: Connect private refinery rate feeds via webhook or REST endpoint.
